Get Your Hair Ready For Spring

After a long winter, you’re itching to enjoy fresh air. Hats, dryness, and salon closures affected your hair. Don’t worry! We have tips to restore and maintain healthy hair all spring. Let us guide you with expert advice and effective solutions for gorgeous locks.

Eat Right, An Almond A Day Keeps Your Hair From Going Astray

Make sure that you’re eating a well balanced diet full of eggs, berries, nuts, fish and green leafy veggies. These foods are rich in omega-3’s, fatty acids, pantothenic acid, vitamins E, C and of course B. Beware of fad diets which can lead to brittle hair. Consider taking a multivitamin!

Shower Hair Etiquette

While it’s important to keep your hair clean of dirt and excess oil, use shampoo no more than 2 times a week to retain your hair’s natural luster without depleting your scalp of its essential oils. Always use natural shampoos and conditioners free of sulfates, parabens and other harsh chemicals. Make sure to wash out conditioner thoroughly. Applying a small amount of conditioner to only the tips of your hair will go a long way in keeping your hair protected. When you’re ready to hop out of the shower put down the towel and grab a cotton t shirt instead this will absorb excess water without the frizz or heat damage.

Break Up With Your Brush

Make sure you’re using the tools for your hair type and always try to detangle knots with your fingers first. Using a wide tooth comb to brush your hair when you get out of the shower not only helps prevent knots and distribution of essential oils, studies have shown increased blood flow to the scalp boosts scalp and hair health.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Those long dry winter months sucked the moisture right out of your hair, leaving many of us a frizzy mess. What’s a girl to do? Make sure you’re drinking enough, that means drinking even when you may not be thirsty. Apply a daily moisturizer to your skin and hair and of course use a conditioner you can count on.

Cool Down From All That Heat

Frizzy, dull, brittle hair…

I’m sure you’ve heard this many times but its really super important. Stay away from washing your hair with hot water, Luke warm is best for retaining your hairs natural shape and volume. And while we’re on the topic, using a hair dryer or straightener regularly can damage your hair, opt for a natural look.

Get Outside

Not to sound like your mother but with the cold months of winter nearing their end (wohoo) now’s the perfect time to soak in some long awaited rays. You’ll boost your mood, replenish vitamin D and get the blood flowing all of which can lead to improved scalp health. Eating leafy vegetables, dairy products or even taking a multivitamin will help you achieve your daily goal.
